Lanka Premier League - Squads, fixtures, format and everything you need to know

The second edition of the Lanka Premier League will get underway on December 5, with last year's runners up Galle Gladiators taking on Jaffna Kings. The final of the showpiece event is set to take place on December 23. Lanka Premier League is one of the more prominent T20 Leagues across the globe and several reputed names take part in the tournament.

The T20 extravaganza will be played in a round-robin format, with top 4 teams reaching the playoffs. However, the top two teams will get two shots at the final and will play a Qualifier 1, the winner of which will go through the summit clash, while the loser will play the winner of Eliminator, that will be played between the third and fourth ranked team, in another Qualifier.

After the massive success of the first season, the fans were keenly waiting for the second edition. However, the tournament was postponed several times due to COVID-19 and to avoid clashes with other major tournaments. Also, of the five teams that played in the first season, three have been terminated, including the inaugural champions Jaffa Stallions. As of now, the teams that will be competing for the title are - Dambulla Giants, Galle Gladiators, Colombo Stars, Jaffna Kings and Kandy Warriors.
