Lanka Premier League 2022- Final squads, signing amount, and everything you need to know

The players' draft for the Lanka Premier League 2022 was conducted on July 5 virtually. Five teams participated in the event and signed different players for the upcoming season, starting on July 31. The event was conducted in 20 rounds with teams that could build a squad for a maximum of 20 players. Notably, every team signed five players each in the pre-draft round.

The rest of the 15 players from every squad were signed during the drafts. These players were divided into different categories. First was Sri Lanka Ruby for which a player had to be signed at 60000USD. In International Ruby, the players were signed at the same amount. Another two categories were Sri Lanka Sapphire and International Sapphire.

In these categories, the players were to be signed at 50000USD each. After this, there were International 'A' and 'B' categories. In the first category, the players were signed at 40000USD while in the next one, the players were signed at 25000USD. The next categories were International Platinum and Sri Lanka Platinum. The players were signed at 15000USD each in these categories.

The next categories were Sri Lanka Gold and four parts of Silver. In other words, the Silver category is divided into four parts. In Gold category, the players were signed at 10000USD. On the other hand, in the four categories of Silver, the players were signed at 3000USD each. Talking about the squads, the teams have signed some good quality players of the shortest format.

The tournament will start on July 31 with the league games to be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. After this, the top four teams from the competition will head to MRICS in Hambantota for the Qualifiers and Eliminator. The final will be played at the same venue on August 21. Jaffna Kings, who won the first two editions, are the defending champions.
