Galle Gladiators will face Colombo Stars in match 3 of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) on Monday (December 6). Gladiators got off to a winning start in their first match as they beat Jaffna Kings by a big margin of 54 runs. It was a clinical display by the team, with skipper Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Samit Patel being the chief architects of the win.

Former England all-rounder, Patel shined with the ball as he managed to pick three wickets for just 21 runs. He also scored 42 runs and helped the team set a target of 165 runs. Earlier, Bhanuka Rajapaksa also scored a half-century to help the team recover from a shaky start. Gladiators have momentum with them and will hope to continue their winning streak against Colombo Stars.
Stars are being led by Angelo Matthews. The Lankan all-rounder brings a huge amount of experience and knows how to handle pressure situations. He is a smart operator and also very flexible in the batting lineup. However, there is uncertainty about his participation in the tournament owing to an injury.
Namibian all-rounder David Weise is also available for stars. The 36-year-old is in a rich vein of form and helped Namibia reach the Super 12 stage. Weise hitting prowess, coupled with his economical bowling in the middle overs makes him a valuable asset in the shortest format. Stars would be hoping the Namibian all-rounder gets going. Other than him, Tom Banton, Kusal Perera, Sherfane Rutherford makes Stars a very dangerous unit.
