On 10 April, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the ongoing IPL. It was the 15th match that took place at the Chinnaswamy stadium. RCB were coming off after a defeat against KKR while LSG were coming off after a win against SRH. So, RCB fans were hoping for a win from Faf du Plessis and his men.

Speaking of the match, KL Rahul won the toss and opted to bowl first. Mark Wood made a comeback to the playing XI after missing the last match. On the other hand, RCB handed a debut cap to Wayne Parnell. For RCB, the skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli came out to open the innings.

Second consecutive loss for RCB in IPL 2023

Both of them played some top shots and tear apart all LSG bowlers all around the park. The first wicket fell on 96 runs in 11.3 overs as Kohli scored 61 runs off 44 balls, including four fours and four sixes. Then, Glenn Maxwell came and stitched a 115-run partnership with the RCB skipper. Maxwell got out after scoring 59 runs off 29 balls, including three fours and six sixes. Finally, du Plessis smashed 79* runs off 46 balls, including five fours and five sixes and his team posted 212 runs for two wickets in 20 overs. For LSG, only Mark Wood and Amit Mishra grabbed one scalp each.

For the chase, LSG skipper KL Rahul and Kyle Mayers came out as openers. But, Mayers scored a duck and then, they lost two more wickets in four overs. After that, Marcus Stoinis showed some power hitting and scored 65 runs off 30 balls, including six fours and five sixes. Rahul also lost his wickets after scoring 18 runs off 20 balls. But, Nicholas Pooran played some outrageous shots and scored a fifty off just 15 balls. He got out after scoring 62 runs off 19 balls, including four fours and seven sixes. After that, RCB bowlers showed a fight and the equation came down to one run needed from one ball with one wicket in hand. On that delivery, Avesh Khan missed the ball but completed the run to win the match.
