Hanuma Vihari has been a decent performer for team India in the longest format of the game. Speaking of his career, he has played 16 Tests so far. He has scored 839 runs in 28 innings, at an average of 33.53. Hanuma Vihari has also bagged one century and five centuries. But, he is not in the squad for team India for the first two Tests against Australia, starting on 9 February 2023.

Vihari was not a part of the squad also when India toured Bangladesh for a two-match Test series. So, currently, he is busy playing the ongoing Ranji Trophy for Andhra. On 31 January 2023, Andhra took on Madhya Pradesh in one of the four quarter-finals. Speaking of the match, Madhya Pradesh won the toss and opted to field first.

Hanuma Vihari scored 27 runs off 57 balls in the match

During the match, Andhra got bundled out for 379 runs in 127.1 overs. Ricky Bhui scored 149 runs off 250 balls, including 18 fours and one six. Along with him, Karan Shinde scored 110 runs off 264 balls, including 12 fours and two sixes. Skipper Hanuma Vihari scored 27 runs off 57 balls, including five boundaries. But, he made headlines when he batted as a left-handed batter despite being a right-handed batter. One delivery from Avesh Khan hit him on his left wrist and it got fractured.

But, Vihari showed great courage and commitment as he batted left-handed. Seeing that, fans went crazy and shared their views to respect or acknowledge his commitment to his team. Some fans also slammed the Indian Cricket Board for not picking him for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy ahead of Suryakumar Yadav. For Madhya Pradesh, Anubhav Agarwal took four wickets for 72 runs in 22 overs. Along with him, Kumar Kartikeya and Gaurav Yadav took two wickets each while Avesh Khan and Saransh Jain took one wicket each. In reply, Madhya Pradesh have managed 40 runs in the first 10 overs so far.
