‘Kursi ki peti bandhlo’ - Fans react as India reportedly to clash with Pakistan on 2 September in Asia Cup 2023

The Asia Cup 2023 is all set to take place on 31 August as the first four matches will be played in Pakistan while the other nine matches will be played in Sri Lanka as per the proposed and approved hybrid model by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). But, now, as per reports of ESPNCricinfo, Pakistan will kick off the tournament with a clash against Nepal on 30 August in Multan.

It also suggested that fans will witness the India vs Pakistan rivalry on 2 September in Candy, Sri Lanka. The final is reportedly to take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka on 17 September. All these schedules came out as reports as per the draft PCB made. Now, several changes might come into play when the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) finally will announce the schedule. They are set to announce the schedule on 19 July reportedly.

Pakistan and India can play three matches in Asia Cup 2023 

Listening to such reports, fans shared their views on social media. A total of 13 matches will be played and all the matches are reportedly scheduled to take place at 1 pm Pakistan Standard Time (1.30 pm Sri Lanka Standard Time and Indian Standard Time). Six teams have been divided into two groups. Group A consists of India, Pakistan, and Nepal. While, the other group consists of Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. The Lankans are the defending champions as they won the tournament in 2022.

After the group stage, four teams will qualify for the Super-Four stage. If both India and Pakistan manage to qualify for the next round, then they are reportedly to clash with each other on 10 September in Kandy, Sri Lanka. Earlier, after former PCB Chairman, Najam Sethi’s tenure, Zaka Ashraf is most likely to be the new PCB Chairman and he was not happy with the hybrid model. But, Ashraf confirmed that as it was already approved by the ACC, the tournament will proceed as per discussion.
