Kuldeep Yadav achieves career-best spot in ICC Test bowling rankings

Team India’s star spinner Kuldeep Yadav has rocketed to the career-best 14th rank after climbing seven positions up in the newly announced ICC Test bowling rankings on Wednesday, October 15.

Notably, Kuldeep ended the second and final Test against the West Indies with the player of the match award, after registering the match figures of 8/186. He picked up his fifth five-wicket haul (5/82) in the first innings of the second Test.

Interestingly, Kuldeep emerged as the leading wicket-taker of the two-match Test series with 12 wickets from two games at an average of 19.5 with the best figures of 5/82. He currently has 689 rating points.

On the other hand, Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah continues to hold the pole position in the Test bowling rankings with 882 rating points. Also, the star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has retained his top spot in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings.

Notably, Jadeja ended the two-match Test series against the West Indies as the player of the series for scalping eight wickets and scoring an unbeaten 104-run knock. 

While Jadeja has 426 rating points, he is way ahead of the second-placed all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who has 305 rating points. On the other hand, Bumrah pocketed seven wickets from four innings in the two-match series.

Meanwhile, India's opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal also moved two places up to secure the fifth spot in the ICC Test batting rankings. For the unversed, Jaiswal scored his seventh Test century, playing an exceptional innings of 175 runs in the second Test.

While Rishabh Pant continues to stay at the eighth rank with 753 rating points in the ICC Test batting rankings, Indian skipper Shubman Gill retained his 13th rank with 733 rating points. Mohammed Siraj continues to occupy the 12th rank in the Test bowling rankings with 726 rating points.
