On 21 July 2023, day two of the ongoing second Test match between Team India and the West Indies took place in the Port of Spain. Both Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja resumed the action as they were the overnight batters. Kohli was on 87* runs while Jadeja was on 36* runs. So, all eyes were on Kohli whether he would manage to score an overseas Test century after a long gap of five years.
However, he did not disappoint his fans as Virat Kohli notched up his 29th century in the longest format of the game. In the first Test also, he looked good, solid but failed to convert his 76-run knock into a big one. But, this time, he managed to score his 76th international century across all three formats for the Men in Blue.
West Indies are still trailing by 352 runs against India after day two of the second Test
Also, Kohli became the first player to score a hundred in his 500th international game in the history of Cricket. However, he got out on 121 runs off 206 balls, including 11 fours. Along with him, Jadeja also scored 61 runs off 152 balls, including five fours. They also put up a partnership of 159 runs for the fifth wicket. After that, Ishan Kishan scored 25 runs off 37 balls but Ravichandran Ashwin showed his class once again against the Caribbeans. He scored 56 runs off 78 balls, including eight fours. Finally, they got bundled out for 438 runs in 128 overs.
For the home side, both Kemar Roach and Jomel Warrican took three wickets each while Jason Holder took two and Shannon Gabriel grabbed one wicket. In reply, the Windies batters showed some resistance as both Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Kraigg Braithwaite put up a partnership of 71 runs for the first wicket. Ravindra Jadeja took the wicket of Chanderpaul as he scored 33 runs off 95 balls, including four fours. However, skipper Braithwaite remained not out on 37 runs while Kirk McKenzie scored 14* runs off 25 as WI finished day two with a score of 86 runs on the board for just one wicket. Still, they are trailing by 352 runs with nine wickets in hand.
