The second match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy began on 17 February 2023. Team India won the series opener with ease by an inning and 132 runs. So, the Men in Blue were looking for another thumping victory while Australia were looking to level the series. So, the stage was set in Delhi for an enthralling battle between these teams.

Speaking of the match, Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first. Australia made two changes as Travis Head came in for Matthew Renshaw and debutant Matthew Kuhnemann came in for Scott Boland. On the other hand, India made only one change as Shreyas Iyer came in for Suryakumar Yadav.

However, Australia got bundled out for 263 runs in 78.4 overs. Usman Khawaja scored 81 runs off 125 balls while Peter Handscomb scored 72* runs off 142 balls. With the ball, Mohammed Shami grabbed four wickets while Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets each. In reply, India scored only 262 runs in 83.3 overs. Axar Patel scored 74 runs off 115 balls. For the Aussies, Nathan Lyon was the star of the show with five wickets. Todd Murphy and Matthew Kuhnemaan took two wickets while skipper Cummins grabbed one wicket.

Thus, the visitors had a lead of one run. But, the Aussies fell apart as Ravindra Jadeja steamrolled them. He took seven wickets while Ravichandran Ashwin grabbed three wickets. Australia got bundled out for 113 runs and set a target of 115 runs for team India. The home side managed to chase it down in 26.4 overs with six wickets in the hand. Both Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara were the highest scorers with 31 and 31* runs respectively. Ravindra Jadeja won the player of the match award for his performance. Thus, India managed to gain a lead of 2-0 over the Aussies with two more matches to go.
