KL Rahul was once a ‘third wheel’ on Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s dinner date, reveals India opener

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have always been a star couple. The focus is always on them thanks to their stardom. For the unversed, Kohli is a superstar Indian cricketer while Anushka is a prominent Bollywood actress irrespective of the fact that she hasn’t done a film for a long time now.  The couple is also blessed with a lot of friends who are their strong pillars in life and KL Rahul is one of them.

In a show ‘Open House with Renil’, KL Rahul recalled an incident from 2014 when he was a third wheel on Kohli and Anushka’s dinner. However, the real reason for the same was the kindness shown by the star couple towards the India opener.

Rahul had made his debut in Australia and it was a forgettable moment for him. He was very disappointed with his performance and looked visibly upset after the match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Anushka was present in Australia at the time and she noticed that the India opener was not happy and lost.

Anushka offered Rahul to come to dinner with them

Anushka didn’t just check on Rahul and offered him comforting words but also offered to take him out for dinner or sightseeing. The gesture made Rahul feel a bit better even though he was stepping into their private space.

“I third wheeled on one of the dinner dates, both Virat and Anushka shared their stories describing moments when they had endured failure in their careers. That made me feel like I wasn’t the only one who ruined his first impression,” Rahul said.

Rahul reflected on that moment and admitted of feeling touched by Anushka’s thoughtful gesture when he was dejected. “It was nice of Anushka to do it, as I didn’t know how she could understand what I was going through. She came to my room after she saw that I was down and dejected. She also insisted that I shouldn’t be alone or dwell on my performance,” Rahul further added.
