KL Rahul puts his weight behind struggling Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara

Both Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara have struggled to get going in India’s tour to England thus far. While Rahane has mustered single digit scores in the 2 innings that he has batted, Pujara has recorded single digit scores in 2 out of the 3 innings that he has played in this series.

However, India’s opening batsman KL Rahul is not worried about the lack of runs from the willows of both Pujara and Rahane. Rahul opined that the experienced duo has done the job for the Indian side on many occasions in their careers.

Adding that both Pujara and Rahane are world class players, KL Rahul stated that both of them know how to once again start scoring runs.

"Pujara and Ajinkya have done the job for India many times we were in trouble. They are world-class and experienced players so they know how to come out of a couple of innings they haven't scored runs," said Rahul in a press conference at the end of Day 2.

KL Rahul further said that batting is always going to be a challenge in England. Rahul concluded by stating that while a batsman cannot score runs in every innings that he bats, he should make it count if he gets off to a good start.

"You also have to realise they are playing in tough conditions. In English conditions batting is always going to be challenging, you are going to get good balls. You can't go out there and score runs in every innings, but if you get a start you make it count," concluded Rahul.

KL Rahul scored a fantastic 129 for India in the first innings of the second Test, and helped the Virat Kohli led side post a total of 364 runs on the board.
