India took a 2-0 unassailable lead in the Border Gavaskar series after beating Australia by 6 wickets in the second Test match at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday.
Amidst the win, a lot of the talk has been going around KL Rahul’s poor form with the bat. The Indian opener hasn’t made any substantial contribution with the bat in Test Cricket, of late.
He has failed badly in the first two Test matches of the ongoing Test series against Australia. Rahul got a pretty good start in India’s first innings of the Test match.
He reached 17 runs in 41 balls and looked all set to play a big knock. However, that couldn’t turn into reality as he walked about, soon after. In India’s next innings, KL Rahul could only manage a single run before, once again, going back to the hut.
You could feel sad for him for the way he got out in that innings but his, overall stats in the last few Test matches is disappointing, to say the least. In his last 6 Tests, KL Rahul has only managed to score 175 runs at a poor average of 15.90.
Despite the fans, the fans lashed out at the Indian management for backing KL Rahul despite consistent failures with the bat. Shubhman Gill, who has been in fine form with the bat, is waiting in the wings but Rohit Sharma and head coach, Rahul Dravid continues to back the Indian opener amidst his lean patch.

India crushed Australia by 6 wickets to win the second Test and retain the Border Gavaskar series. The third Test match is scheduled to be played from 1st March to 5th March 2023.
