KL Rahul has been a great player on the field, but his actions off the field make him great too. He recently donated a sum of 31 lakhs for a young boy's bone marrow transplant. Varad Nalawde, a fifth-class student and a budding cricketer, was suffering from a rare blood disorder called Aplastic Anemia. Varad was under a hematologist's treatment in Mumbai’s Jaslok Hospital.

Varad's blood platelet counts were low, and his immune system was failing. According to doctors, bone marrow transplant was the last choice left for the family to save their child's life. Varad's parents ran out of money and his father was forced to liquidate his provident fund to cover the rising medical costs. According to reports, Varad's parents, insurance agent Sachin Nalawade and housewife Swapna Jha, initiated a fundraising effort on GiveIndia to gather Rs. 35 lakh necessary to pay for their son's treatment. Rahul's team contacted Varad's parents as soon as they learned more.

Speaking on this, Rahul said, " When I came to know about Varadx’s condition, my team got in touch with GiveIndia so that we can help him in any way we could. I am glad that the surgery was successful, and he is doing well. I hope Varad gets back on his feet at the earliest and goes on to achieve his dream."

Varad's mother thanked KL Rahul for the huge help. She said it would have been difficult to rescue her kid without Rahul's help. “Without Rahul’s help, it would have been impossible to rescue my kid and provide him bone marrow transplant in such a short period,” she said.
