Even though Russell wasn’t at his best in the last season, he has been a match winner for KKR over the years. In the 2019 season, the all rounder amassed 500 runs at a brutal strike rate of 200. He’s more than handy with the ball as well and KKR skipper, Eoin Morgan will be looking to get some crucial overs out of Russell in the upcoming season. Russell has a strike rate of over 180 in the IPL and has stroked 129 maximums in 74 IPL games. He won the Most Valuable Player award in 2015 and 2019. Russell was tested positive for the Coronavirus on West Indies tour of Sri Lanka and has been away from the game since then.

KKR skipper, Eoin Morgan is likely to join the team next week after the completion of the India -England ODI series. Players like Dinesh Karthik, Rahul Tripathi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti have already arrived in Kolkata for the training camps. The players are currently undergoing mandatory quarantine.
