KKR Playing XI, IPL 2025: Best probable playing XI of Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders will be looking to defend their title in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They released their skipper Shreyas Iyer and splurged a massive amount on Venkatesh Iyer in the mega auction but couldn’t pick a captaincy face. The franchise is yet to make an official announcement on their captain but their playing XI looks more or less sorted for now. Let us have a look:

Sunil Narine starred as an opener for KKR in the last edition and KKR is unlikely to tinker with his position in IPL 2025 as well. His opening partner is likely to be Rahmanullah Gurbaz even as Quinton de Kock is also another option. The Afghanistan opener is an explosive batter and is likely to be preferred at the start of the season at least.

If Ajinkya Rahane is not in the plans to be named the captain, then he is unlikely to be part of the playing XI. In this case, the KKR management might opt for Angkrish Raghuvanshi who is young and can take the attack to the opposition fearlessly. 

Venkatesh Iyer who is reportedly the captaincy contender as well will bat at four and is likely to be the fulcrum of KKR’s batting line-up. The left-hander has to shepherd the KKR batting to make sure they don’t collapse and play according to the situation too. 

Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, and Ramandeep Singh will have to play the role of a finisher. Rinku also possesses the ability to maneuver the ball in case wickets fall in a hurry while the other two are pure hitters of the ball. The bowling attack of KKR comprises Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy, Vaibhav Arora, and Anrich Nortje.

Sunil Narine and Andre Russell are also good enough bowling options. Add to it Ramandeep and Iyer and KKR boast of as many as eight options with the ball in their first XI which is really great for a T20 team.
