MS Dhoni is currently preparing for the upcoming Indian T20 League 2023 as he will be seen playing for the Chennai franchise. He has been the charismatic leader of the franchise since the inception of the league. Under his captaincy, the franchise have won four titles so far and hence, they are the second-most successful team in the history of the tournament.

In the last edition. MS Dhoni was not the captain since the start of the season as Ravindra Jadeja was given the captaincy duties. But, in the middle of the season, Jadeja got ruled out of injury along with terrible captaincy throughout the tournament. Hence, the baton went back to Dhoni and now, he will look to lead the side again to glory in this upcoming season.

In the 2022 edition, Chennai finished in the ninth position with just four wins out of 14 matches, gathering only eight points. Hence, it was a terrible season for the team and their fans and they are hoping for a much better season from them this season. However, several reports are there that this is going to be the last time when Dhoni will wear this yellow jersey in the tournament as a player.

As of now, several videos and photos have gone viral where the former team India skipper was seen batting and hitting sixes at will in the nets. On 31 March, Chennai will kick off their journey in the new season against the defending champion, Gujarat. So, Dhoni was seen entering M. A. Chidambaram Stadium for a practice session and fans went crazy after seeing him in action. They came up with a roar to acknowledge the arrival of Chennai’s captain.  

Speaking about MS Dhoni, on his popular show named ‘AakashVani’, the former India and Kolkata franchise batter, Aakash Chopra said: “The first thing is that this could be the last of Dhoni. So there is a slight emotional connect about how Dhoni and his team will do. Is this the last time we are seeing him on the field with a bat and gloves in hand?” Chopra told Jio Cinema. Where will Dhoni play? During the SA20, RP Singh had asked a question that would Dhoni select himself as a player in the XI. He batted well last year but will it be similar this year as well? You never want to see your legend struggling. So that is one question that is looming large but Dhoni is larger than life”.
