On 17 February 2023, the second match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy began in Delhi, Team India had a comfortable victory in Nagpur in the first Test. So, the home side were looking to continue their dominance in this game also. While Australia were looking to win this match to make the series 1-1.

Speaking of the match, Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first. However, they made two changes from the first Test. Travis Head came in place of Matthew Renshaw. They also handed a debut cap to Matthew Kuhnemann as he replaced Scott Boland in the playing XI. For team India, Shreyas Iyer came into the playing XI in place of Suryakumar Yadav.

India defeated Australia by six wickets in the Delhi Test

Australia got bundled out for 263 runs in 78.4 overs. Peter Handscomb scored 72* runs off 142 balls, including nine fours. Along with him, Usman Khawaja scored 81 runs off 125 balls, including 12 fours and one six. For the Men in Blue, both Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets each. Mohammed Shami grabbed four wickets. In reply, Nathan Lyon showed his class as he took five wickets. Along with him, both Kuhnemann and Todd Murphy grabbed two wickets each while Cummins managed one wicket. Thus, India got bundled out for 262 runs in 83.3 overs.ย

Axar Patel was the highest scorer with 74 runs off 115 balls, including nine fours and three sixes. So, Australia managed a lead of one run. But, Jadeja came up with a top performance with the ball as he took seven wickets for 42 runs in 12.1 overs. The visitors got bundled out for just 113 runs in 31.3 overs. Thus, India got a target of 115 runs and they chased that down in 26.4 overs with six wickets in the bag. Cheteshwar Pujara remained not out on 31* runs and ensured the victory of team India in Delhi. After this win, India now have a 2-0 lead over the Aussies with two more matches to go.
