KL Rahul had a great chance to win the game against Gujarat Titans (GT) for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on 22 April 2023 in the ongoing IPL. He scored 68 runs off 61 balls and got out in a crucial moment. As a result, his team choked during the chase and they fell short by seven runs. Fans were not happy with such a slow inning from Rahul.

While chasing 136 runs, KL Rahul scored 50 from 38 balls. But, he scored the next 18 runs off 23 balls. After the loss, the former team India pacer, Venkatesh Prasad came up with a cheeky tweet and took an indirect dig at the LSG skipper. However, Prasad has been very critical of his strike rate and performance in recent times for Team India across all formats.

Speaking of the tweet, Prasad wrote: “Bottling a run chase when 30 needed of 35 balls with 9 wickets in hand requires some baffling batting. Happened with Punjab in 2020 on few ocassions losing games they should have won easily. As brilliant as Guj were with ball & Hardik smart with his captaincy, brainless from Lko”. In 2020, KL Rahul was the skipper of PBKS. Hence, fans claimed that the former pacer took a dig at Rahul. 

During the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Prasad slammed the Board and team management for backing Rahul despite his poor run of form. After the match, KL Rahul also said that he could not understand what happened during the chase as at one stage, they needed 30 runs off 30 balls. During the post-match presentation, Rahul said: “I don't know how it has happened. It happened too fast. I can't put a finger on where we let the game slip, which was in our pocket.” Meanwhile, fans did not hold back also as they fully supported Prasad and shared their views on social media.
