KL Rahul has been in the headlines for his form with the bat in recent times across all three formats for the Men in Blue. After making a comeback from injury setbacks in 2022, Rahul has failed to score significantly. Even, in major tournaments like the Asia Cup and the 20-20 World Cup, he failed miserably despite getting a lot of chances.

Recently, in the ODI and Test series in Bangladesh, Rahul failed again. In the two-match Test series, he was the captain. He led the Men in Blue to victory but failed as an individual batter. Before this Border-Gavaskar Trophy, fans and former cricketers like Harbhajan Singh, and Kapil Dev also claimed that he should get dropped for a better combination in the playing XI. 

KL Rahul scored 18 runs in the Delhi Test including two innings

Kapil Dev also claimed that he should get dropped despite being the vice-captain of the side. In his place, Shubman Gill needs to be considered as the opening partner of Rohit Sharma. In the Nagpur Test, Rahul scored 20 runs off 71 balls. After that failure, fans claimed that he needs to be dropped. But, regarding that, the official said that KL Rahul has the trust of both the skipper and the coach.

He said: “Rahul has the captain and coach’s trust. Everyone goes through bad run. Virat had an extended poor run of form. But he bounced back. We just need to be patient with Rahul too. He is a classy player and he will surely bounce back. Yes, he can be dropped as there is nothing called vice-captain’s immunity. But it’s the team management’s call. Any discussion will be after Delhi Test.”

So, eyes were on him when he came out to bat in the Delhi Test. But, he scored only 17 and one run respectively in the first and second innings. Seeing such a failure again from the star batter, fans went berserk and shared some tweets to slam him on the social media platform. As of now, in this series, Rahul has scored 38 runs in three innings.
