Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik were there in the middle during the 17th over of the Indian innings in the match against Bangladesh. The former played the ball towards the short mid-wicket but Dinesh Karthik who was on the non-striker’s end started his running with full intent. Unfortunately, Kohli took his steps back and the Indian wicketkeeper-batter fell on the receiving end of a run-out at the non-striker’s end.
Notably, the 37-year-old’s form and fitness were under scrutiny ahead of India’s clash against Bangladesh in the super-12 round of the tournament. But later on, happened to pass the fitness test and made a cut to the playing XI of India.
Coming back to the run-out, the reluctant stance from the former Indian skipper didn’t go down well with some of the Indian cricket fans. Later on, the fans blamed the 33-year-old for the unfortunate run-out of Dinesh Karthik.
Here’s how fans reacted on Twitter:
Still feel umpires should have checked that run out again.

I think the ball did not dislodge the stumps. It was Shoriful's hands doing the work and ball was not in his hands
Karthik unlucky💔#INDvBAN

An Adelaide game with Virat Kohli involved in a run out. We’ve seen this happen before. This time Karthik at the receiving end 👀#T20WorldCup #ViratKohli pic.twitter.com/dm07UD4RF3

Thank You DK!#INDvsBAN
Eventually, India crossed the line in this nail-biting thriller by winning the match by five wickets and registered their third win in the tournament. India has lost only one match out of the four they played so far, and that defeat came against the South Africans when David Miller’s knock played a vital role for South Africa.
Apart from this, Virat Kohli is enjoying a purple patch with the bat in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup as he has now become the leading run-scorer in the eighth edition of the tournament. One-time world cup winner Indian batter has smashed 220 runs in four innings with three amazing unbeaten half-centuries. Kohli is followed by Dutch opener Max O’Dowd who has scored 213 runs in seven innings with two half-centuries.
