On a thrilling last day of the group round, Karnataka, Andhra, Jharkhand, and Jammu and Kashmir secured their spots in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals, joining Mumbai, who had already qualified, in the knockout stage.
Devdutt Padikkal, the skipper of Karnataka, scored an undefeated 120 off 85 balls at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali to lead his team to an incredible chase of 250 in just 27.5 overs against Punjab and secure the final quarterfinal slot.
Mayank Agarwal's quick 53 off 36 balls helped the left-hander, who was promoted to captain following Karnataka's crushing loss to Madhya Pradesh in the previous match, ace the chase with a dominant knock.
Jharkhand, Andhra, and Vidarbha were tied for first place in Elite Group A with 31 points. However, they were separated by bonus point victories; Jharkhand advanced with three, Andhra with two, and the reigning champions Vidarbha were eliminated with just one.
In Elite Group C, Uttarakhand advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Assam by an innings and forty-two runs, after Bengal's victory over Haryana to top the table and go to the Rohtak knockout stages.
After forcing Assam to follow on, Uttarakhand bowled them out for 278, with Mayank Mishra scoring 6-86. Captain Kunal Chandela's double-century in the first innings handed Uttarakhand the advantage early and they never let go of it in a dominant duel in Dehradun.
With four wins and two draws, Mumbai, who were already guaranteed a spot in Elite Group D, finished first with 33 points from seven games. Delhi, on the other hand, had a dismal season, finishing with 12 points from six draws and one loss.
Jammu and Kashmir, which finished second with 24 points, easily ahead of Chhattisgarh, moved from Group D alongside Mumbai. After overnight rain at the Amtar Cricket Ground in Nadaun prevented play on the final day against Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir's qualification was confirmed.
With just one point at the end of their terrifying campaign, Nagaland was destined for relegation back to the Plate group the following season, whereas Bihar, which won the lower-tier title this season, secured promotion.
