Team India are looking to kick off their WTC 2023-25 cycle with a two-match Test series in West Indies on 12 July 2023. But, several players like Shreyas Iyer missed this series once again due to injury. Currently, Iyer is at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru as he is getting fitter from the back injury that he sustained.

The injury came during the fourth Border-Gavaskar Test against Australia in Ahmedabad. Hence, he missed the remaining match also. After that, he failed to recover in time for the IPL 2023. His absence hurt Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) most as he was the skipper of the team. Nitish Rana got appointed as the skipper.

After that, Iyer missed the recent World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia. Then, as per some reports, Iyer is getting fitter but still, he is most likely to miss the upcoming Asia Cup also. The tournament is all set to begin on 31 August 2023. However, now an image has gone viral where Iyer was seen having a batting net session. It seemed to be a visual from the NCA and seeing that, fans shared their wishes. As the ODI World Cup is around the corner, fans will hope to see him making a comeback as that will give a boost to Rohit Sharma and his men ahead of the mega event.

Shreyas Iyer last played for Team India in March 2023. Speaking about his career so far, he has played 10 Tests and in those 16 innings, he has scored 666 runs at an average of 44.40, including five fifties and one century. Iyer has also played 42 ODIs and in 38 innings, he has scored 1631 runs at an average of 46.60, including 14 fifties and two centuries. Apart from these, he has played 49 T20Is and in 45 innings, he has scored 1043 runs at an average of 30.67, including seven fifties.
