On 21 May 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had the chance to qualify for the playoffs in the ongoing IPL with a win over Gujarat Titans (GT). But, GT defeated them and knocked them out of the competition. After that, Lucknow Super Giants came up with a cheeky tweet and fans shared mixed reactions over that.

They wrote: “Give it? Take it? Let's leave it. Well fought, @RCBTweets. See you next season.” It seemed that they took a dig at Virat Kohli’s ‘If you can give it, you gotta take it back as well’ statement. During the LSG vs RCB clash, Kohli got involved in an ugly bust-up with Naveen-ul-Haq and Gautam Gambhir.

After that, RCB posted a video where Kohli was seen celebrating the victory in the dressing room. Virat Kohli was seen saying: “If you can give it, you gotta take it. Otherwise don’t give it.” In that match, he was seen shutting the LSG crowd as the same gestures were made by Gambhir also in the reverse fixture at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, it seemed that LSG tried to settle all the things down with a cheeky tweet. Speaking of the match, RCB scored 197 runs for five wickets in 20 overs, courtesy of Virat Kohli’s 101* runs off 61 balls. In reply, GT chased down the target in 19.1 overs and won the game by six wickets.

It was Shubman Gill won won the Player of the Match award for scoring 104* runs off 52 balls. During the post-match presentation, Gill said: It's all about getting a start and converting it into a big one. Thankfully it's working out for me in the business end. You have to keep applying yourself, that's important. The new ball was holding on a bit. The ball was getting wet with the dew. I thought Vijay Shankar was trying to go too hard. Once he found the momentum, he hit it a long way. I know my game... for any player it's important to know who you are. I think we have a great bowling attack for that wicket."
