Pakistan and South Africa locked horns in the 36th match of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. Skipper Babar Azam won the flip of the coin asked his batters to take the charge first in the first innings. Pakistan posted a total of 185 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 2o overs.
During the run-chase of South Africa, the rain played a villain for the South African team as the target was revised to 142 runs in the 14 overs. While chasing the target, the Proteas could manage to score only 108 runs in 14 overs for the loss of nine wickets and lost the match by 33runs.

Speaking of the match, Batting first, Pakistan posted a total of 185 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Senior batter, Iftikhar Ahmed and vice-captain Shadab Khan smashed brilliant half-century knocks of 51 and 52 runs respectively.
All-rounder, Mohammad Nawaz, and young batter Mohammad Haris also added contributions of 28 runs each. Anrich Nortje ended up as the leading wicket-taker for the South Africans by scalping four wickets conceding 41 runs in his quota of four overs.
While chasing the target, South Africa could score only 108 runs for the loss of nine wickets and lost the match by 33 runs. Now, South Africa ought to win their last match against the Netherlands to secure a berth in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Now, Pakistan has reached the third spot of the points table in Group 2 and their chances to qualifiers are still alive for the knockouts defends on the result of other matches.
