Jofra Archer

If reports are to be believed, England’s lead pacer, Jofra Archer could be rested for the upcoming three match ODI series against India. Archer, who missed the 4th Test due to an elbow injury was doubtful for the T20I series as well but he recovered fast enough to feature in all of the 4 T20Is played so far. He’s also the leading wicket taker of the series with seven wickets to his name.

With the T20 World Cup and Ashes in sight, England management doesn’t want to overburden Archer, who’ll also feature in the Indian Premier League, stated a report in Daily Mail. Archer’s absence will also allow other English pacers to get used to the Indian conditions. India will host the next T20I and 50 over World Cup. ECB is yet to announce the squad for the ODI series. The three ODIs will be played on March 23, March 26 and March 28 respectively at the Maharashtra Association Stadium in Pune. India, on the other hand, have revealed their squad. Prasidh Krishna and Suryakumar Yadav have received their maiden ODI call up while Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Krunal Pandya, Washington Sundar, Bhuveneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Siraj are back in the squad.

If Archer is rested from the series, he'll get 10 -15 days rest before returning to the Indian Premier League where he'll represent the Rajasthan Royals. Archer was RR's leading wicket taker in the previous edition with 20 wickets in 14 games. After finishing last in the previous edition, Rajasthan Royals will hope for the turaround in 2021 edition.
