On 22 April, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) took on Gujarat Titans (GT) in the ongoing IPL. The stage was set at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow as the home side were looking for another win. LSG came to this clash after a win over Rajasthan Royals (RR). On the other hand, GT came after a defeat against RR.

Before this clash, LSG were in the second spot while GT were in the fourth spot. Speaking of the match, Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bat first. For GT, Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill came out as openers. But, Gill managed only a two-ball duck as Krunal Pandya took his wicket.

Then, Saha played some shots and scored 47 runs off 37 balls, including six fours. But, skipper Hardik Pandya finally showed some form with the bat as he scored 66 runs off 50 balls, including two fours and four sixes. Apart from them, other batters struggled to score freely and to time the ball properly. So, finally, GT scored 135 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. For LSG, both Krunal Pandya and Marcus Stoinis took two wickets each. Along with them, Naveen-ul-Haq and Amit Mishra grabbed one wicket each.

In reply, LSG skipper KL Rahul came out to open the innings with Kyle Mayers. For the first wicket, they put up a 55-run partnership in 6.3 overs. Rashid Khan took the wicket of Mayers as the Caribbean scored 24 runs off 19 balls, including two fours and one six. Then, Krunal Pandya scored 23 runs and Nicholas Pooran scored one run off seven balls. Noor Ahmad took two wickets for 18 runs in four overs. Then, Rahul got out on 68 runs off 61 balls. In the end, they choked and fell short by seven runs. Thus, GT defeated LSG in a low-scoring thriller. In the last over, LSG needed 12 runs and Mohit Sharma conceded only four runs.
