The stage was set at Narendra Modi Stadium on 29 May 2023 for the ongoing IPL as it happened on the revised day. Due to rain, it got postponed on 28 May and hence, finally, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) locked horns with Gujarat Titans (GT). CSK came to the final with a win over GT in qualifier one.

While GT qualified for the final by defeating Mumbai Indians (MI) in qualifier two. So, an enthralling battle was waiting for fans and their teams. Speaking of the match, MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bowl first. For GT, Wriddhiman Saha came out to bat along with Shubman Gill.

Fifth IPL Title for CSK after this win

They put up a partnership of 67 runs for the first wicket in seven overs. Gill scored 39 runs off 20 balls, including seven fours. Then, Saha put up a partnership of 64 runs off 42 balls with Sai Sudharsan for the second wicket. Saha scored 54 runs off 39 balls, including five fours and one six. After that, Sudharsan put up a partnership of 81 runs off 33 balls for the third wicket with skipper Hardik Pandya. Finally, Sai scored 96 runs off 47 balls and Pandya scored 21* runs off 12 balls as GT scored 214 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. For CSK, Matheesha Pathirana, Ravindra Jadeja, and Deepak Chahar were the wicket-takers.

Then, for the chase, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway came out as openers. But, the game got paused just after three balls when they were at four runs without no loss of wickets. Finally, after some pause, the match got resumed as CSK needed to chase 171 runs in 15 overs. CSK batters had a solid start as CSK were at 58 runs for no loss in five overs.  But, after some crucial contributions from CSK batters, they were at 150 runs for five wickets in 13 overs. In the last two balls, they needed 10 runs. Ravindra Jadeja hit a six and a four as CSK won their fifth title by defeating GT by five wickets.
