Team India have been always blessed with top-quality batters over the years. But, in recent times, India’s bowling department has become a force to reckon with. Bowlers have helped India to perform well in overseas conditions across all three formats, especially in Tests. Spinners have always been a great force with the likes of Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin, and many others.

But, in recent years, pacers like Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and many others have helped to take out the opposition with ease in different conditions. However, in the last few years, many pacers have dealt with some injury setbacks. Now, reports have come out that the Indian Cricket Board are set to launch a country-wide talent hunt to discover young fast bowlers for the future.

“The fast-bowling unit is looking light.” - Aakash Chopra

However, India’s next assignment is a full-fledged tour of the West Indies. After a two-match Test and three-match ODI series, they will play a five-match T20I series. But, the selectors have gone with a young fast bowling unit for the T20I series. Regarding that, on his YouTube channel, the former Team India cricketer, Aakash Chopra said: “The fast-bowling unit is looking light. Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar – these are India’s fast bowlers. If we go one by one, Arshdeep Singh shouldn’t be a point of discussion, he has been absolutely outstanding, he is gold dust.”

Over Umran Malik’s selection, he added: “Umran Malik – another very interesting choice because you can say it was the same story with him. A little worse that Hyderabad didn’t use him at all and when they did, they didn’t use him properly. He was extremely expensive when they played him in the end. But Umran Malik in the middle overs is not a bad option.” He also added that Avesh Khan’s career is not on the right path while as per him, Mukesh Kumar might be a better option in the red-ball format than the white-ball format.
