After winning the toss and asking Lahore Qalandars to bat first, the Afridi-led side got off to a flyer. Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique put on a 61-run partnership for the opening stand. However, Post the 22-year-old's wicket, Zaman continued, and scored a superb 70. Thus, Qalandars scored 204-5 in the first innings.

While chasing a mammoth total of 205, the Sarfraz-led side scored 71 in the first five overs, as Jason Roy went all berserk, and scored a half-century in just 20 balls. After the wickets of Ahsan Ali, he and his fellow English teammate James Vince put together a massive 96-run partnership.

Roy then got to his hundred in 49 balls, and was in a mood to deposit all the balls out of the stadium. Despite being dismissed after a sensational 116, most of the damage was already done. His knock came at a whopping strike rate of 203.51, and consisted of 11 boundaries and eight sixes. Thus, he went on to win the player of the match award for his breathtaking knock.

"I have been extremely jet-lagged. It has been a long time since my last T20 hundred. To string a partnership like that with James was special. It is always important to take momentum ahead in the later stages of the tournament," said Roy after the completion of the game on Monday.

It is to be noted that this knock comes merely a few days before the mega auction for the Indian T20 league. Thus, the English opener has certainly chosen the right time to raise his stocks. With a base price of INR 2 crore, Roy is all set to go down the hammer.
