Ravichandran Ashwin showed his class once again in a home Test series in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. His all-around performances were instrumental as India defeated Australia by a 2-1 margin. He also won the player of the series award along with his spin partner, Ravindra Jadeja.
However, throughout the series, pitches were in the headlines. Former cricketers like Harbhajan Singh also claimed that pitches should not be in the news that much before a match. Hearing such statements, fans were not happy. They claimed that the former team India is jealous of the current off-spinner as he gets more tailored-made pitches at home conditions.

Recently, after the completion of the series, Ashwin came up and shared his views on the official YouTube channel. He said that in India, some players think that they are the best. But suddenly some players will come to the next generation and can do better than the former. So, any person needs to accept that there will always be someone who can be better.
Ashwin said: “Even, in India, we have this hyping mentality and superstar culture. It is prevalent here in India. If someone achieves something, we keep them in superstar status. The main problem of our humanity is the ego. Many of them will learn to keep their ego aside. But, this superstar thing will bring back the ego.”
“We keep thinking that we are the best. And then suddenly, someone from the next generation comes along and says, “Can you just wait for some time? Let me just show you how this is done. So, one thing we need to understand and accept is that there will always be someone better than us. Only then we can adjust to today’s reality and lead a happy life,” he further added, Listening to that, fans thought that Ashwin took an indirect dig at the former spinner. But, now, in a recent interaction, Harbhajan Singh came up with huge praise for Ashwin. He said: “If Hussey is the Mr. Cricket then Ashwin is the double Mr. Cricket – no one thinks & analysis cricket like Ashwin”.
