Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) locked horns with the defending Champion Gujarat Titans (GT) on 9 April 2023 in the ongoing IPL. The 13th match of the tournament took place in Ahmedabad and the visiting team were coming off after a thumping win over RCB. On the other hand, GT were looking for their third consecutive win of this season.

Speaking of the match, Hardik Pandya did not play in the match. As a result, Rashid Khan got the opportunity to lead the team. Rashid won the toss and opted to bat first. For the home side, Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha came out to open the innings. They gave a decent start before losing the first wicket on 33 runs. Sunil Narine picked up the wicket of Saha for KKR.

Vijay Shankar scored 63* runs off 24 balls against KKR

Saha scored 17 runs off 17 balls, including three fours. Then, Shubman Gill scored 39 runs off 31 balls, including five fours. Gill stitched a partnership of 67 runs with Sai Sudharsan. Sai scored 53 runs off 38 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Then, Vijay Shankar came out to bat and smashed KKR bowlers all around the park. Shankar played a gem of an inning as he remained not out on 63* runs off 24 balls. He smashed four fours and five sixes.

His knock helped GT to cross the 200-run mark and they posted 204 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. For KKR, Sunil Narine picked up three wickets while Suyash Sharma grabbed one wicket. During the 19th over, he smashed two sixes and one four against Lockie Ferguson. Then, in the 20th over, Shankar hit three consecutive sixes against Shardul Thakur. Seeing that brutal hitting from the GT all-rounder, fans went crazy and shared their views on social media. In fact, such hitting shocked Gujarat fans as it was quite an unexpected show from the star all-rounder.
