The first of the two-match Test series between Pakistan and New Zealand is underway at the National Stadium in Karachi. The latter is currently in a comfortable position in the match after posting a mammoth total of 612 runs for the loss of nine wickets before the declaration of innings by skipper Tim Southee.

Former kiwi skipper and veteran batter Kane Williamson smashed a brilliant double-century in the first innings. The 32-year-old completed his fifth double century in Tests with 21 boundaries and a six to his name.

Speaking of the latest update of the ongoing Karachi Test, the hosts are trailing by 124 runs in the second innings. They scored 50 runs for the loss of Abdullah Shafique’s wicket in 20 overs. Earlier, Tim Southee’s men posted a mammoth total of 612 runs for the loss of nine wickets before the declaration of the inning.

Other than Kane Williamson’s outstanding double century, the Kiwi opener Tom Latham also scored smashed a century and scored 113 runs including 10 boundaries alongside Devon Conway’s 92 run-knock. Lower-order batter Ish Sodhi also showed some hands in batting as he scored a half-century of 65 runs with 11 boundaries to his name.

At the time of stumps on day 4, Pakistan was trailing by 97 runs and lost two wickets on the score of 77 runs. Opener Imam-ul-Haq went unbeaten on an individual score of 45 runs with night-watchman Nauman Ali who was batting on 4 runs at the end of the day. Michael Bracewell and Ish Sodhi claimed one wicket each for the visitors in the second innings.
