On 26 August 2023, the eliminator of the ongoing Hundred Men’s competition took place at the Oval as Southern Brave (SOB) took on Manchester Originals (MNR). Their skipper, Jos Buttler was instrumental in that victory as he smashed 82 runs off 46 balls, including six fours and four sixes. His inning helped his team chase down a massive total of 197 runs from 96 balls with seven wickets in hand. Seeing such carnage from the England international, fans went crazy and lauded him on social media platforms.

“A bit disappointed to be set a big score, but parked that and got ready to bat.” - Jos Buttler

Speaking of the match, Buttler won the toss and asked SOB to bat first. Finn Allen and Devon Conway put up an opening partnership of 122 runs from 65 balls. Allen scored 69 runs off 38 balls while Conway remained unbeaten on 51* runs off 38 balls. Their skipper, James Vince also smashed 56* runs off 25 balls. Thus, they scored 196 runs for just one wicket from 100 deliveries. In reply, Phil Salt and Jos Buttler put up a great show by scoring an opening partnership of 83 runs off 32 balls. But, it was Buttler who smashed 82 runs off 46 balls and some significant quick contributions came in.

Thus, they reached the target with four balls to spare. Buttler won the Player of the Match award and during the post-match presentation, he said: "Fantastic. At the halfway stage it was a tough fielding innings, but Salt was amazing to get us ahead of the game, and we continued the momentum. A bit disappointed to be set a big score, but parked that and got ready to bat. Hard to stop us. Can't wait to play in the final, competition going from strength to strength, we'll rest up and go to Lord's." Now, MNR will take on Oval Invincibles (OVI) in the final on 27 August.
