Following the conclusion of the Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator match of the Indian T20 League 2022, Sourav Ganguly, the president of the Indian Cricket Board, took to Twitter to heap praise on the Eden Garden Stadium in Kolkata. Prior to the start of the Qualifier 1 match, there were murmurs of conducting the matches to a different venue as torrential rains had wreaked havoc in Kolkata. However, despite that, the Indian Cricket Board and Cricket Association of Bengal took all the necessary efforts to conduct the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator match smoothly.

“The best venue..800runs in 2 days, no decision till last over, outfield like carpet, thunderstorms in the afternoon, the  game starts on time, belter of a surface, picturesque stadium, every seat full, no better place than a playoff.” Sourav Ganguly wrote on his Twitter handle.

His Tweet didn’t go down too well with the fans and a lot of them trolled him instead for only conducting the two knockout matches in Kolkata and hosting the final at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Here’s a look at some of the notable reactions.

For the unversed, the Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator match of the Indian T20 League 2022 were conducted at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. Gujarat beat Rajasthan by 7 wickets in the Qualifier 1 match to book a spot in the final of the tournament. In the Eliminator game, Bangalore got the better off Lucknow as they beat the latter by 14 runs.

The Qualifier 2 and the final of the Indian T20 League 2022 will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday and Sunday respectively.
