Team India are currently in West Indies for a full-fledged tour, consisting of two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is. However, after that, the Men in Blue will travel to Ireland for a three-match T20I series. But, recent reports came out that players like Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya might be given a rest for that series.

In the T20I series against the Windies, Pandya will lead the team. But, if he gets to rest for the Ireland series, then, Suryakumar Yadav is reportedly the front-runner to captain the side. He is getting ready for both the upcoming ODI and T20I series against the Windies. Suryakumar scored 605 runs in 16 matches for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the last edition of the IPL. He also captained the side in the last season once against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. MI won that match by five wickets. He also scored 43 runs off 25 balls, including four fours and three sixes. Speaking of the series against Ireland, it will begin on 18 August and the third or last match will be played on 23 August 2023. Followed by that series, India are scheduled to play the Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka.
