England suffered a two-wicket loss against Australia in Edgbaston in the first game of the Ashes 2023. However, Stuart Broad has a good game as he took six wickets in the match. However, in that game, Ollie Robinson made headlines for having some words with Usman Khawaja after dismissing him in the first innings and again, in the second innings.

Regarding that, the Australian media came up with a ‘No. 1 villain’ tage for Robinson. On Twitter, they wrote: “No. 1 villain Ollie Robinson has learned his fate over an expletive-laden send-off for Usman Khawaja.” But, in reply to that, the veteran England pacer wrote: “No1 Villain?!” I can’t have lost that tag already can I?! Disappointing.” Seeing that cheeky dig from Broad, fans went crazy and shared their views.

Against Australia, Stuart Broad has a good record as he has taken 137 wickets in 66 innings of 36 matches. His economy is 3.15 and his average is 28.74. So, Broad has always enjoyed bowling against the quality batters of Australia over the years in the longest format of the game. Regarding his performance, the former England skipper, Nasser Hussain heaped praise on his column for the Daily Mail after day four of the first Test.

He wrote: “He is one who can say that he always gave it his absolute everything. Broad was on his knees with two balls to go in that spell, he had been sprinting back to the end of his mark to beat the clock and bowl one more over, and that for me is all you can ever ask of an England cricketer.”

“You can see Broad cares about this, his ninth and possibly last Ashes series, as much if not more than his previous eight and his record against Australia is what he will be remembered for. Even at 36, he went away and worked behind the scenes to perfect the outswinger that did for Labuschagne and Smith in this fourth innings,” Hussain added.
