The cricketing fraternity was in full praise of the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s brave intent as came in the middle with an injured thumb during the second of the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. Both teams played this match at the Sher-E-Bangla stadium in Mirpur. The men in blue were struggling at 207 for the loss of seven wickets in 42.4 overs.
It was the time when skipper Rohit took the control of things himself and arrived in the middle to rescue his team from a miserable condition.
Earlier, the medical staff of team India took Rohit Sharma to the hospital for further scans and medical check-ups. In Rohit’s absence, it was KL Rahul who led the team against Bangladesh.
But everyone was stunned and shocked when Indian skipper Sharma came to bat in the middle at the number for to save his team. The fans were left in full awe of the veteran batter as he played a brave and unbeaten knock of 51 runs off just 28 balls with three boundaries and five sixes to his name. Although he failed to cross the line for his team and eventually the visitors lost the match by a margin of six runs.
Subsequently, Indian head coach Rahul Dravid lavished his praises on Rohit Sharma and lauded the latter for his courageous approach in a tough situation.

“It was phenomenal for him to show that level of courage. He had a serious dislocation and had to go to the hospital to set that right. Stitches in his hand, and a couple of injections to be able to just go out and bat. But credit to him, he was really determined to go out and have a go and take a chance and it was amazing how close he brought us with that innings,” said Dravid during the post-match press conference in the aftermath of the match against Bangladesh.
“It was an absolutely phenomenal inning by the skipper. Great courage to be able to go out there and take a chance but unfortunately, we couldn’t get over the line,” he added later.
In a recent update, coach Rahul Dravid confirmed that India will field their eleven in the final ODI without having regular skipper Rohit Sharma in it.
