Just a couple of years ago, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav were India’s primary spinners. The duo became an integral part of India’s bowling lineup and helped the team pocket some impressive wins. However, both Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal lost their magical touch and were consequently dropped from the Indian squad.

With Ravindra Jadeja’s rise as a proper all-rounder and Ashwin’s decent form in white-ball cricket, it will be tough for Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal to feature together in the team.

When asked if Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal can play together in the Indian XI, former cricketer Deep Dasgupta said it will be difficult for either of them to find a place in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup let alone featuring together in the Indian playing XI.

"At the moment, it looks unlikely. To be very honest, I see Rahul Chahar ahead of Yuzi (Yuzvendra Chahal). A lot will depend on the Sri Lanka series and obviously on the IPL as well," Dasgupta said in a reply to a question asked by a fan in a recent video uploaded on his Youtube channel.

"As for Kuldeep, he has not been the preferred bowler for more than a year and a half. So, it looks unlikely to me as of now. I don't know what will happen in six months," he added

However, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal will have an opportunity to make a case for themselves when they step on the field for India against Sri Lanka. The series that was set to start on July 13 will now kick off on July 18 after Sri Lanka batting coach Grant Flower and data analyst GT Niroshan tested positive for COVID-19. The T20 World Cup is set to get underway on October 17 in the UAE.
