Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly was willing to continue his stint as the president of the Indian cricket Board but it was not seeming pleasant to the bosses over there. The media reports have learned that the former legendary Indian skipper was on the receiving end of criticism for his ‘non-performance’ in a recently concluded meeting of the Board in New Delhi.

Earlier, he was offered the position of chairman of the Indian T20 League which he went on to refuse with a point that can’t head a sub-committee of the Board after presiding the apex office in that very organization.

Although, Sourav Ganguly's departure from the highest administrative position in Indian cricket is also connected to the political turbulence of the State of West Bengal. While expressing an opinion on the whole incident, Bengal’s ruling party Trinamool Congress (TMC) has come up with accusations on the Union ruling party BJP for sacking and ‘humiliating’ the former cricketer. Later on, TMC also termed it as BJP’s ‘political vendetta’.

Here's what TMC leader accused BJP for:

“Another example of political vendetta. Son of @AmitShah can be retained as Secretary of #BCCI. But @SGanguly99 can't be. Is it because he is from the State of @MamataOfficial or he didn't join @BJP4India? We are with you Dada!” said TMC MP Santanu Sen.

Subsequently, it has also been confirmed that former World Champion all-rounder of the 1983 World Cup, Roger Binny will join the office as the successor of Sourav Ganguly. The exit of Sourav Ganguly has also divided the fans into multiple opinions on social media.

A few people in the Indian cricketing fraternity also accused Ganguly of intervening in the team selection meetings during his tenure as the president of the Indian cricket Board. The Virat Kohli-captaincy controversy was also one of the incidents that happened to put a dent in Ganguly’s administrative skills.
