Due to an injury, Reece Topley was forced to withdraw from the current season of the Indian Premier League. Royal Challengers Bangalore has acquired South African player Wayne Parnell for the duration of the competition as a replacement. When it came to filling Topley's position, which the RCB management has finally secured, Parnell was one of the front-runners.

During the Royal Challengers Bangalore vs. Kolkata Knight Riders game, Sanjay Bangar said that Topley had been dismissed despite the management's best efforts to keep him.

After making his international debut in 2009, Parnell has experience in the T20 format. In the 56 T20 games Parnell has played so far, he has taken 59 wickets at a strike rate of 18.5 and an economy of 8.29.

RCB have also named Vyshak Vinay Kumar as Rajat Patidar's replacement

Similarly, Rajat Patidar, a young batsman for Madhya Pradesh who had an outstanding season last year, also had a heel injury before the competition began and was forced to miss the entire season. The management has now hired Karnataka's Vyshak Vinay Kumar to take Patidar's place after first delaying signing a replacement. RCB paid INR 20 lakhs to recruit Vinay Kumar, who has taken 22 wickets in 14 T20 matches.

After just two games, this is RCB's third replacement contract of the year. Earlier, English batsman Will Jacks suffered a similar fate when he was also forced to withdraw from what would have been his first IPL game. In his place, New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell was recruited.

Parnell previously played for the Indian Premier League teams Delhi Daredevils and Pune Warriors, gaining experience from the league's third season in 2010 all the way through to 2014.
