Team India are getting prepared for the upcoming Asia Cup as the tournament is going to begin on 30 August 2023. The Men in Blue will begin their campaign on 2 September in Sri Lanka against their arch-rivals Pakistan. They are having a training camp in Alur, Bengaluru as the players are going to fitness sessions also.

But, on 29 August, some images went viral where Virat Kohli was seen having a chat with Shubman Gill after his batting sessions. Even, the former Team India skipper was seen observing Gill in the practice session very closely, standing right behind Rahul Dravid at the umpire's position.

Shubman Gill scored only one fifty in three ODIs in West Indies

Gill had a forgettable tour in the West Indies across all three formats. In the two-match Test series, he scored only 45 runs. Then, in the three ODIs, he managed 126 runs, including a fifty only. In the five-match T20I series, Gill scored 102 runs, including one fifty-plus score. So, it was a disappointing performance from the star batter after having a great start to 2023 for India and then, a fantastic IPL 2023 for Gujarat Titans.

He also was the highest run-scorer in the tournament. So, fans were not surprised to see Kohli talking with him as it might help him to get back in form ahead in the Asia Cup. Meanwhile, head coach, Rahul Dravid attended a press conference and there, he confirmed that KL Rahul will miss the first two matches for India. He will be nursing his niggle at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and on 4 September, after a reassessment, a decision will be taken on his travel to Sri Lanka.

Dravid said: "KL has had a good week here with us. He's trained well and done a lot of things. He's progressing really well on the route that we want to take. But he will be unavailable for the Kandy leg of the trip. The NCA will be looking after him for the next few days while we are travelling. We will reassess on September 4 and take it from there. But signs are looking good and he's progressing really well."
