The stage was all set for team India and their fans as they took on Australia in the fourth Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The match took place in Ahmedabad and after losing the last match in Indore, fans were expecting a better performance from Rohit Sharma and his men in the last match.

However, both Prime Ministers of India and Australia also visited the stadium, and they celebrated 75 years of friendship between India and Australia. They also had a lap of honour on a golf car before the start of the match. Speaking of the match, Steve Smith won the toss and opted to bat first.

Australia scored 255 runs for four wickets by the end of day one against India

The Aussies did not make a single change to their lineup from the winning combination in Indore. On the other hand, the Men in Blue made just one change as they considered Mohammed Shami over Mohammed Siraj. For the visitors, Usman Khawaja and Travis Head came out to open the innings. Head got out on 32 runs off 44 balls, including seven boundaries. He put up an opening stand of 61 runs in 15.3 overs. Then, Marnus Labuschagne failed again cheaply as he scored just three runs off 20 balls. After that, the skipper Steve Smith came out to bat.

He put up a solid partnership of 79 runs as Smith lost his wickets after scoring 38 runs off 135 balls. Peter Handscomb also failed to stay in the crease as he scored 17 runs off 27 balls, including three boundaries. After that, Cameron Green remained not out on 49* runs off 64 balls, and Usman Khawaja managed to notch up a century. By the end of day one, Australia scored 255 runs for four wickets as Khawaja scored 104* runs off 251 balls, including 15 fours. For India, Mohammed Shami took two wickets while both Ashwin and Jadeja managed to take one wicket each.
