“I can smile for the rest of my life.” - Ambati Rayudu after IPL 2023 final

Ambati Rayudu took retirement from all forms of cricket after winning the IPL 2023 with CSK. It was CSK’s fifth title while Rayudu’s sixth IPL title. After the final, Rayudu said: “It's a fairytale finish. I couldn't have asked for more. I'm fortunate to have played in really great sides. I can smile for the rest of my life. All the hard work I've done in the last 30 years, I'm happy I got to finish on this note. I would really like to thank my family, my father. Without them this wouldn't have been possible.”

CSK coach Stephen Fleming has been named as the coach of TKS also. After Rayudu’s retirement, Fleming opened up about him and while speaking to reporters, he said: "Ambati Rayudu has been an absolute legend. I rate him so highly as a batter and those three balls against Mohit Sharma today proved against one of the most in-form bowlers… to hit him for 6, 4 and 6 was sheer class. Rayudu will leave a hole, there is no doubt about it, but the game keeps moving. Doesn’t it? We expected that for him to go out like that was pretty emotional within the group and for him as well." In the final, Rayudu played an excellent cameo of 19 runs off eight balls, including one four and two sixes.
