On 31 July 2023, the second game of the ongoing Lanka Premier League (LPL) took place in Colombo between Galle Titans (GG) and Dambulla Aura (DA). Speaking of the match, DA skipper, Kusal Mendis won the toss and opted to bowl first. While batting first, GG scored 180 runs for five wickets in 20 overs.

In reply, Avishka Fernando and skipper, Kusal Mendis came out to bat. But, an image from that innings went viral where a snake was seen on the field and due to its presence, the play got paused for some time. Seeing that, fans went crazy and shared their views on social media platforms.

Speaking of the image, the incident took place after the fourth over of DA’s innings. The snake was seen on the grass and after a little pause, it was helped off the boundary rope as the game resumed. Speaking of the match, GG’s Lasith Croospulle had a disappointing outing but for the second wicket, Shevon Daniel and Bhanuka Rajapaksa put up a partnership of 50 runs. Daniel got out on 33 runs off 26 balls, including two fours and two sixes. Then, Tim Seifert failed to score big as he got out on 14 runs off 17 balls without a single boundary. 

Shakib Al Hasan showed some fight as he scored 23 runs off 14 balls, including one four and two sixes. Rajapaksa got out on 48 runs off 34 balls, including five fours and two sixes. But, it was their skipper and the star Sri Lanka all-rounder, Dasun Shanaka who remained not out on 42* runs off 21 balls, including two fours and four sixes. For DA, Shahnawaz Dahani took two wickets for 37 runs in four overs while both Binura Fernando and Dhananjaya de Silva took one wicket each. In reply, after 12 overs, DA reached 101 runs for four wickets as they needed 80 runs from the remaining 48 deliveries.
