The fitness of Josh Hazlewood is still unclear as despite being in the squad, his chance of playing is still uncertain. Seeing such reports, fans came up and shared their views on social media. Speaking about Boland, he has taken 28 wickets so far in seven matches, at an economy of 2.18.

“He's one that would really, potentially thrive in these English conditions.” - Scott Boland

However, Cricket Australia’s chairman of selectors George Bailey claimed that the same team will be backed that took them to the final. He said: “The way we are looking at that is it’s a culmination of what’s been a pretty consistent two years. It’s been a pretty similar team for a long period of time. We are confident that’s a team and that’s a make-up that can have success.” Even, the former Australian skipper, Ricky Ponting also claimed that Scott Boland should get a nod ahead of Michael Neser in Australia’s playing XI.

While talking on the review show of the Apex Council of Cricket, he said: "Boland's record when he's played over the last 12 months has been absolutely outstanding. He's one that would really, potentially thrive in these English conditions. We’ve seen what he's been able to do in Australia when there has been a bit of assistance off the wicket there and with the ball. So I think he'll get the nod ahead of Neser." He also shared a playing XI of Australia if Hazlewood remains unfit.

Ponting’s predicted XI without Hazlewood

Usman Khawaja, David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Cameron Green, Alex Carey, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins (c), Nathan Lyon, and Scott Boland.
