MS Dhoni was in action on 3 May 2023 when Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) locked horns with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing IPL. However, before this season, reports came out that this might be the last time when Dhoni is playing this tournament. But, till now, no such confirmation has come out from the CSK skipper.

Now, when Dhoni came out for the toss for the LSG clash, the crowd at Ekana Cricket Stadium went crazy. Due to their huge roar, it was quite impossible to talk in the middle. Seeing that huge affection for Dhoni, Morrison asked how he was enjoying his last IPL season. In reply to that, MS Dhoni said: “You've decided it is my last IPL, not me.”

Hearing that, some fans went crazy and shared their views on social media. But, in some games of this season, Dhoni had already indicted that he is enjoying the last phase of his career. After their game against the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), MS Dhoni said: "All said and done, it's the last phase of my career, however long I play .” After the KKR game at Eden Gardens, Dhoni acknowledged the crowd as a lot of people came out wearing Chennai jerseys. 

He said: “Thanks for the support and they came in big numbers. Whenever there's a next KKR game, they will come supporting them. “ However, before this clash, CSK were in the fourth spot with 10 points in nine games. Dhoni has scored 74 runs in five innings, at an average of 74. Meanwhile, after winning the toss against LSG, he opted to bowl first and said: "The wicket was under cover for a long time, and it looks a bit tacky. We have to see every condition. When you are playing a day game, things change. Deepak Chahar is playing and he comes in place of Akash Singh."
