Indian team's regular skipper Rohit Sharma is currently missing the squad of the ongoing first of the three-match Test series against Bangladesh. The 35-year-old sustained an injury in his left thumb while attempting a catch in slip during the second ODI against Bangladesh. Later on, he had to travel to Mumbai for a consultation with the doctors.
Talking about the captaincy of Rohit Sharma lately, he has been on the receiving end of criticism from cricket fans, experts, and former greats of the game. The men in blue lost the Asia Cup 2022 followed by the 20-20 World Cup 2022.
But recently, the former Indian batter Mohammed Kaif has come up in a defense of Rohit by saying that there is still time left to assess Rohit Sharma's captaincy as the full-time skipper of India.
"Rohit has done well since he became the captain. Apart from the big events where he failed in the World Cup and the Asia Cup, thatβs why people are not happy. It was the same thing when Virat was the captain,β said Kaif during the commentary on Sony Sports Network.
Following these remarks from Mohammed Kaif, Indian fans being Indian fans found another angle in it and they felt that Kaif is calling Sharma a 'choker' but not directly. They took to Twitter for reacting to the same.
Here's how fans reacted:

He will never be fully fit to captain team india. Its a total waste to try him now at his age. You will always find him missing from one match or the other all the time. Better @BCCI should think think about someone young. #BANvIND
