Ireland Women are set for their first T20I assignment of 2025 as they take on Zimbabwe in a three-match series at home, starting from 20 July. All three matches will be played at the Pembroke Cricket Club in Dublin.

Since the beginning of 2025, Ireland Women have only played ODIs. Their focus had been on preparing for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers and securing a spot in the main event, which is scheduled to take place in India and Sri Lanka later this year.

Earlier in the year, they played a three-match ODI series in India, followed by two warm-up games before the Qualifiers. However, it turned out to be a heartbreaking campaign for Gaby Lewis and her side. Ireland managed to win only two out of five matches in the Qualifiers. With just four points, they failed to qualify for the World Cup.

Despite that setback, Ireland will look to bounce back strongly in the T20I series. Historically, they have been dominant against Zimbabwe in the shortest format. Ireland have won all seven of their previous T20Is against the visitors and will aim to extend that streak in front of the home crowd.

To do that, along with Captain Gaby Lewis, key players like Orla Prendergast, Ava Canning, Laura Delany, and Amy Hunter will need to step up.

Zimbabwe Women, on the other hand, are heading into the series with some momentum. They recently defeated the USA Women 2-1 in a three-match T20I series and followed that with a drawn two-match ODI series (1-1). The visitors will now aim to register their maiden T20I win over Ireland and put up a strong fight in unfamiliar conditions.
