The Board of Control for Cricket in India has confirmed that limited numbers of fans will be allowed during the second leg of the Indian Premier League, which gets underway on September 19 with a mouthwatering clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. Tickets for the IPL 2021 will be on sale from Thursday, September 16.

"IPL 2021 resumes with the five-time champions and current title holders Mumbai Indians taking on three-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 19. This match will be a momentous occasion as IPL will welcome the fans back to the stadiums after a brief hiatus owing to Covid-19 situation," the IPL said in a statement.

"Matches will be played at Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi with limited seating available keeping in mind the Covid protocols and UAE government regulations."

The Indian Premier League was postponed in May after COVID-19 wreaked havoc in India. At the time of suspension, Delhi Capitals occupied first place with six wins in eight games, followed by Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Mumbai Indians as the top four teams. Delhi Capitals’ Shikhar Dhawan is the current holder of the orange cap with 380 runs in eight innings, while Harshal Patel of Royal Challengers Bangalore is the purple cap holder with 17 scalps.
