IPL: RR vs PBKS head to head record

The upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will start on March 22 this year. A total of 74 matches will be played over the course of next two months and two of them will be between the Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings. The first face-off between them is scheduled on April 5 (Saturday) at Mullanpur and then they will lock horns on May 16 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

The two teams share a rich history as they have been associated with the IPL since its inception in 2008. They have faced each other a staggering 28 times in the history of the cash-rich league and the Royals have somewhat dominated the proceedings with 16 wins. However, the Punjab Kings are not much behind either with 12 wins over the Royals so far.

Upcoming clashes in IPL 2025 provide a chance to the Punjab franchise, led by Shreyas Iyer, to improve their head to head record against the Royals. Interestingly, neither of the teams have dominated for a certain period in this face-off and the matches between these sides have been highly unpredictable.

The rivalry between RR and PBKS has well and truly lived up to its expectations serving one thriller after another over the years. As far as the previous season is concerned, the Royals and the Kings won a game at each other’s home ground in the two matches played.

Both matches went down the wire despite them not being high-scoring ones and this shows how great this rivalry has been over the years. In IPL 2025, the Royals have retained a core of players as they search for their first IPL triumph since 2008. As for the Punjab Kings, they have yet again hit a reset button in the mega auction and have built a strong unit. Under Iyer’s captaincy, the franchise will be eyeing their maiden IPL trophy and certainly, two wins over the Royals this season.
